I’m a New York-based photographer and human rights researcher originally from Japan, currently documenting labor, migration, and faith across Senegalese communities. My work explores the intersections of global capitalism, displacement, and everyday resilience.
Before turning to photojournalism, I worked as a researcher on corporate accountability and labor rights in East Africa and Southeast Asia, contributing to projects with the International Labour Organization and NGOs.
I hold a Master’s degree in Human Rights and Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BA in Swahili and African cultures from Osaka University, where I spent a year studying Swahili literature in Tanzania.
I’m a recent graduate from Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism at the International Center of Photography, developing a body of work that draws on anthropological research methods and visual storytelling to better understand and represent underreported communities.
